The instruction in English
The concept of the altitude manoeuvre scout aircraft, that was able to be within a considerable period of time above the objectives and that was difficult-to-reach for the anti-aircraft artillery and the fighters of the enemy, by the beginning of the Great Patriotic War was not yet implemented in our country. Though the need in such a machine became appreciable already in the first war months, when it became clear that the efficiency of the battle use of the scout aircraft FV-189, which our soldiers used to call "the carriage", is rather high. The construction of such a machine was entrusted to the design engineering bureau, headed by P.O. Suhoy. The draft design of the machine was worked out already in 1943. The scout aircraft was a three-seater double-girder plane with two air-cooling engines with the capacity of 960 l each, with the take-off weight of about 6 t, with the maximal flight range of 925 km. But unfortunately the series startup of the specialized artillery spotter in the extreme conditions of the war time was an impermissible luxury for the aircraft industry of the Soviet Union. The model has the middle level of detailed drafting; the undercarriage, the wings and the empennage are printed in imitation of metallic.
